Located approximately 15km east of
Canberra, Queanbeyan City Brigade is situated on the corner of
Ellerton & Old Sydney Roads in Queanbeyan. Queanbeyan is a town of
approximately 25,000 people and is frequently travelled by nearby
Australian Capital Territory residents on their way to the coast and
coastal residents on their way to the snowfields. Queanbeyan is
home to New South Wales Fire Brigades 428 Station, who run a mixture
of Permanent and Retained personnel protecting within the city
limits. Queanbeyan City Brigade has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
to assist NSWFB when required, and also has its own response area on
the outskirts of town - including the notorious Kings Hwy.
With a compliment of approximately 40
active fire fighters and support personnel, the Queanbeyan City
Brigade provides a 100% volunteer service, with members giving up
their own time to serve their community. Our members come from a
wide socio-economic background - each bringing their unique skill
sets to enhance our team.
The Queanbeyan City Brigade is a fairly
active brigade with varied call rates annually, responding to
incidents ranging from Motor Vehicle Accidents to Bush Fires.
Queanbeyan City is classified as a Village 2 Brigade - Meaning that
it is Breathing Apparatus equipped to deal with high-risk incidents.
However, its not all glamour and glory with members undertaking
non-emergency activities such as fundraising, community awareness
and competitions/field-days. Queanbeyan City is also a very social
brigade, and when our members aren't training or fire fighting,
there is usually some infamous social function to be attended.
Queanbeyan Brigade trains regularly,
and sets a high standard for its members.
